Vision-Guided Robotic Pick-and-Place Cell
Updated: Sep 6
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A vision-guided robotic pick-and-place cell for locating parts, picking them from a presentation area, and placing them at the next process location.
PROJECT SCOPE
• Vision-based part location
• Robot motion and pickup sequencing
• Gripper and part-present checks
• Placement and handoff logic
• Station interlocks and recovery
• Commissioning and operator handover
DELIVERABLE
A coordinated part-handling cell with vision-guided pickup and controlled robot sequencing.THE CHALLENGE
Manual picking and inconsistent part presentation can limit throughput and create variation. The cell needed reliable part presentation, repeatable robot motion, and clear operator interaction.
OUR APPROACH
MCS developed a robotic handling workflow that coordinates part presentation, robot motion, fixtures, sensors, and operator recovery routines.
AUTOMATION SCOPE
• Industrial robots for material handling and pick-and-place sequencing
• Coordinated part presentation and fixture handling
• I/O and sensor integration for controlled cell operation
• Safety interlocks, fault detection, and recovery logic
• Commissioning support and operator handover
RESULT
A repeatable robotic handling workflow that supports consistent part movement and provides a practical path from manual handling to production automation. Final cycle-time and acceptance criteria are confirmed with the customer during commissioning.
